The main difference is that the new MK2 models are all digital. The implemented DSP allows us to do multiple great things with the speaker.
Here are the most crucial differences:
• HEDD integrated Lineariser: Engaged Lineariser sharpens the stage and stereo image (positioning sounds/elements in the stereo field is more easily done), most speaker manufacturers do not address Phase (we do), they only offer adjustments to the Frequency Response (which we do as well)
The MK1 Models can only be linearised via VST Plugin and also have way more latency in doing so.
• HEDD CoP Setting: By closing the ports you essentially get a new, cleaner sounding speaker with a better impulse response but less capacities to play bass-heavy music at loud volumes
• HEDD Extended Bass Setting: Extending the low end frequency range by 6-8 Hz depending on the model in exchange for a lower max SPL
• Sound: in general tighter and more dynamic
